Yang Chow Fried Hokkien Prawn Noodle: Hidden Gem At Beo Crescent
Hidden within the humble and mature estate of Beo Crescent is this unpretentious stall that sells Hokkien Prawn Noodle. First word/impression that came to my mind was “old school” and that’s how I prefer and select my hawker food! Donned in his plain white t shirt, through his skillful and familiar strokes, uncle Tan (not his real name) is an expert when it comes to Fried Hokkien Prawn Noodles.
Started with the “sinful” pork lard which had a good crunch and melted instantaneously, that’s when I knew I was off with a good start!
While some may prefer their noodle to be “wet”, I enjoy the “drier” version. Consistent with its gooeyness, I slurped the gravy and tasted every ounce of goodness with each mouth before chewing the noodles. Generous portion of chilli, however it wasn’t a great deal as it was similar to those served with braised duck.
Nevertheless, it was a pleasant food discovery within this neighbourhood.
