95) Vicky’s Cakes and The Coffee Shack
Such a hearty warming name for a cafe. Definitely started by a baker who simply love to bake (duh…..),enjoys coffee and uses it to compliment with the cakes. Frankly, that’s what I thought when I first saw the name.
True enough, Vicky is the boss and she is the baker behind these beautiful and tasty creations. However, the sporty looking lady which you will probably see during your visit isn’t Vicky. How do I know? I was ‘eavesdropping’ to the person sitting right next to me.
Down proper business. A simple looking cafe, with cemented walls and flooring, wooden table and tungsten types of lights. Such are the cafes which I love the most. Nothing fanciful, just simple and comfortable which gives the warm and homely feel.
Cakes do look delicious, however, I went for the chocolate fudge cake ($6.50) which apparently is their top seller. Not having much experience on chocolate fudge, but it was spongy, fluffy and had a nice balance of chocolate distributed within the cake. Latte ($5.50) was on my menu too. Despite having a weak body, but it complimented well with the sweetness from the cake.
Apart from the price, everything was decent and fine.
An interesting thing I discovered was the orchid on the table. Look at the pictures below under “Misc” and you will know why. Nature at it’s best!
