Tian Tian Chicken Rice
“Simplicity is bliss” and I can’t agree more with this statement about Chicken Rice which is labelled as one of Singapore’s national dishes! From hawker centres to restaurants, you will be able to find this delicacy served in Roasted, Steamed or Braised.
While the dish itself may be as common as the air we breathe, those that have transcended the norm to become truly great are rare. Being termed as a national dish, I guess the golden question will be, “Where is the Best chicken rice stall?”
Since taste is subjective, nevertheless, I gotta say that Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice definitely has substance and lives up to the name of being our national dish! Started with a humble stall at Maxwell Food Centre, they have now expanded to many outlets island wide. In this post, I was at the outlet located at Simpang Bedok.
So what’s so unique about them? I guess it has to be their tender and slightly chilled steamed chicken which brings about a coolness while eating it. Definitely a good choice on a hot day. At the same time, its tenderness is accompanied with a layer of gelatin!
Chilli paste is thick, spicy and ‘Shiok’! This spiciness also acted as a counterpoint to the coolness from chicken, best! Oh yes, not forgetting their rice! It was so good that it could be eaten as it is without additional dishes!
