141) The Milky Way
Tucked in the midst of Tanglin Halt neighbourhood and next to Commonwealth MRT, The Milky Way is another gem found! As the name may suggest, this cafe specializes in Waffles, Ice Cream and Coffee. ‘Creamery’ seems to be the up coming trend among new cafes, woo hoo! More waffles and ice cream FTW!
Check out the neighbourhood.
The Milky Way has a very clean, homely and cozy feel. Situated next to the tall glass are couches that fits 4 comfortably. Perfect for small cliques to chill.
The menu was straightforward and easy to decipher as they solely offer Waffles, Coffee and Ice Cream.
Waffles come in half ($5) with addition Ice Cream ($3 regular and $3.8 premium). They serve their waffles with classic batter which emits buttery fragrance and was decently fluffy and crispy. We had the Earl Grey Ice Cream, which I thought was brilliant. The flavour of Earl Grey was mild yet evident and the texture of the ice cream was thick and creamy. Overall, it was a delightful waffle but a little over priced for a Half portion.
Accompanying my waffles was a pleasant cup of latte ($4.5). The fragrant aroma, rich and thick crema etched with a beautiful latte art and flavourful coffee totally justified the pricing. It was brewed with a blend consisting Brazilian, Sumatra and Guatemala with that signature nutty flavour.
The Milky Way do have a special Tea Set ($6) which comes with a Carrot Cake ($3.8 individual) and choice of Tea in a mug. The size of the carrot cake was surprisingly tiny. Nevertheless, it was easy on the palate and wasn’t too sweet. I felt that it was a little moist though.
By the way, the boss of The Milky Way may be a familiar face. He is none other than Renfred Ng who competed in the Campus Superstar singing competition. Yup, just for your information.
