The Line Buffet @ Shangri-La Hotel (Singapore)

30/4/14

“The Line” is one of Singapore’s favourite spot for buffet. I’ve heard much about it and have always wanted to check it out. Despite its affordability, but I believe it is worth trying out at least once for myself and decide again for future visits.

The Line’s international cuisines are featured at 16 theatre kitchens, while their bar offers a large selection of premium wines, juices and smoothies.

The first station that caught my attention was the impressive array of desserts that could be seen right from the entrance. For a sweet tooth person like myself, I had to restraint from falling into temptation and left it as my final course for the night.

For my usual buffet practice, I will always head for the seafood section. The basic items such as Prawns, Crab, Lala (Clam) and Oysters were there.

It would have been awesome if they served lobsters too! In any case, the seafood were so fresh that it retained its sweetness and the flesh were springy. Yummy!!!

They also had the sushi counter. Likewise, the spread wasn’t wide but it sure did serve some quality stuff. Salmon sashimi is my favourite as it’s packed with nutrients and The Line sure did a serve up premium quality!

Frankly speaking, buffet aren’t really my choice of meal simply because I will not go for every station available. As far as I can recall, I will usually visit the Seafood, Sashimi, some local food: Satay and Noodles, Dessert and the others only if they are appealing.

Having said that, all that I’ve tried at The Line were above satisfaction except for their Prata and Roasted Meat.

I believe the ambiance did enhance my eating experience too. Despite having 16 food stations and a wine bar, it still feels comfortable and not cramp at all. In fact, there were plenty of space to manoeuvre even though the dining hall was fully occupied and the food stations were strategically located within comfortable walking distance. More importantly, I did have enough privacy from the next table.

Definitely 4/5 for this buffet line!
