70) The Bravery

That’s my first impression of The Bravery. Having driven along Horne road for umpteen times, but I only found/noticed it when I walked right in front of it’s unit. There was simply no sign board nor design that speaks of a cafe. It was simple and a little run-down, I thought it was just another warehouse within that vicinity.

Instead, the lines of bulbs, coloured acrylics, metal frames and “rusty and dirty” looking wall brought me back in time to 1980s-1990s. It was similar to the circus show which I watched at Kazan, Russia for my World University Games 2013. However, there was still a crowd.

We ordered a ristretto and espresso latte. It was my first time comparing two different drink at the same time, indeed there was a difference. I definitely chose the ristretto over the espresso, however it was a little bitter and was slightly acidic compared to those in my “memory bank”.

Digging a little further, their cafe concept was designed by Hjgher creative consultant “specialised backgrounds in design and behavioural science with a primary focus on Design Psychology; the science of how form and function is directly related to human emotion, cognition and behaviour.” (Just out of curiosity and additional information)

This cafe is one of the many cafes within Jalan Besar/Lavender: Chye Seng Huat Hardware, Windowsills, Tiramisu Hero, The Plain and The Coffee Shot. Parking wasn’t an issue as there is multistorey carpark next to Jalan Besar stadium.
