Seng Hiang Bak Chor Mee
Finally got the time and opportunity to try out one of Singapore’s best Bak Chor Mee (minced pork noodle) here at 85 Fengshan Centre, a.k.a Bedok 85 Food Market. In total, there are at least 3 popular Bak Chor Mee stalls within this food market. Facing such stiff competition, it’s really all about “survival of the fittest”! Yay for customers as we will get the best , but nay from the hawkers as they can’t allow any room for complacency.
Only two stalls were in operation during our visit (Ah Poh and Seng Hiang) and we went for the latter based on my friend’s preferences. I wanted to try out both dry and soup versions, however, I am baffled when my friend reported to us that there isn’t more dry version. HUH?!?! Giving the vendor a benefit of the doubt, I guess they wanted to expedite their business as there was a constant queue.
After 15mins, finally it’s here! The broth was thick and flavourful. At the same time, I was able to taste the minced pork for every spoonful of soup. Generous serving of chewy pork balls, noodles were springy but just a little overcooked based on its texture. Nevertheless, it was still a good and tasty bowl of Bak Chor Mee!
Check out the numerous accolades as well!
Will try out the other stalls the next time round!
