Seng Cheong Restaurant (城昌饭店): Crab Porridge At Taipa Village, Macau
If you are planning a trip up to Macau, be sure to include this in your itinerary. Seng Cheong Restaurant (城昌饭店) is a popular Chinese restaurant located at Rua do Cunha Street in Old Taipa Village. It is known for its signature dish: the Crab Congee. It was a Monday afternoon, but this place was packed with locals and tourists.
Ordering was a breeze, efficient and our food came rather quick.
Here were our orders:
Fried Chicken (MOP 75): Similar to Kong Po Chicken, but this was sweeter and not spicy as compared to the former.
Broccoli with mini abalone (MOP 85): Crunchy and aesthetically pleasing plate of broccoli topped with chewy bite size abalone. Favourite part of this dish was the abalone! :p
Highlight of the meal:
Crab Porridge (MOP 200 & 165): A little watery as compared to Cantonese style which is more gooey, but it worked well for me! Crab portion was 350-450g, might be a little smaller.
The porridge had bits and pieces of crab roe and infused with seafood flavour. As compared to the Lobster Porridge I had at Wan He Lou at Maude Road, Singapore, I preferred the former.
Ended off the sumptuous meal with a glass of warm tea and cleaned our palates for more food adventures ahead – PORTUGUESE TARTS!
