130) Sarnies Cafe
A slang for Sandwiches in Brit, Sarnies is at the charming Telok Ayer which is walking distant from Tanjong Pagar Mrt station. Walking along the street of Telok Ayer which is lined by traditional looking shop houses, Sarnies Cafe attract’s Singapore’s fashionable crowd with its detached, casual interiors and sumptuous yet affordable food.
Sarnies Cafe is opened by a team of siblings and as the name suggest, specializes in sandwiches. On top of that, fully hearty breakfast are available from 730am to 11am, while lunch menu is from 11am to 3pm and dinner menu from 6pm onwards.
I was there at 430pm, therefore coffee was the only option. I guess I’ve gotta do my homework before visiting cafes next time! As usually, I had latte ($5) which was served in double ristretto, thus giving the coffee a stronger flavour. Interestingly, the latte had a savoury finish which tasted strange initially, became a new-found love shortly! It was my first for such flavoured coffee.
The display on the hopper showed beans from Ethiopia Sidamo though.
According to my source, Sarnies Cafe do serve an enigmatic Orange Mocha which is an off-the-menu drink, made available only to a select few regular customers or personal friends to the baristas. So if you are reading this post and decides to make a trip down, do give this a try!
Seats in the cafe were limited, however, there are alfresco seating which may be a good idea during the early morning or evening.
Immerse yourself in the relaxed, friendly vibe of Sarnies, perfect for a casual, low-key meal with a hip yet not too trendy crowd.
