112) Rouse At Dunlop
Be ready to get aroused by Rouse, a relatively new cafe at Dunlop Street! This dark and sexy looking cafe is located at a pretty obscure location as it is surrounded by motor bicycle shops etc.
I fell in love with this cafe the moment I entered it. Not that I was welcomed by a thick aroma of coffee, rather it was the hipster, rustic, dim and edgy concept that captivated me! Crates as tables, peeling paint on the walls, dangling lights, naked bulbs, old school radio, natural light peering through the windows of the door and the list goes on.
I was on my usual cafe hunt and having a casual meet up with friends.
I had latte ($5.5 for 8oz ) while my buddy tried their Peppermint Cucumber Mint Tea ($6.5). The coffee flavour was rather distinct and immediately I knew it was from Dutch Colony. Instead of using Dutch’s house blend, Rouse selected beans from Ethiopia, Sumatra and Brazil for their own blend. These are my favourite selections of beans and I am starting to fall in love with such flavours.
Plus point for this cafe is their Halal certification. Service was quite good too with very approachable waiters.
Frankly speaking, this is the best coffee I’ve tried so far from a halal certified cafe. Will definitely come back for their food the next round!
