Penang Culture: A Halal Penang Street Food Paradise

Penang Culture is a sister company of Gurney Drive with a common vision of serving authentic Penang street food to their customers. I’ve been to Gurney Drive a few years ago when it was available at Suntec City and I left there with a good dining experience.

So if you are a fan of local delights and prefer to dine in the comfort of an air-conditioned area, then check out Grandma’s.

This particular outlet is at Century Square (Tampines). Penang Culture do sell a large array of Tze Char, ala carte, appetizers and desserts.

I ordered Nasi Lemak ($7.65) while Fatin ordered Assam Penang Laksa ($6.95).

So here’s the Nasi Lemak.

Simple presentation and it tasted almost similar to those Nasi Lemak that are pre-wrapped in banana leaves. I was a little disappointed with the standard.

I did try a bit of the Assam Laksa and was thankful that I it wasn’t my order. Not too sure if it was intentional, but the taste from the sardine (or another species of fish) over powered most of the flavours. However, based on my past few tries at Penang Seafood Restaurant and other places, I managed to finish them and even half of the remaining gravy.

Thankfully, I had a good company.

Hopefully, my view on the food was more of a personal preference/liking rather than a true reflection of their standard. This place is also Halal Certified, another option for the Muslim community.
