Mei Heong Yuan Dessert
@ Temple Street
Situated at Temple Street of Chinatown, Mei Heong Yuan is a great place for traditional desserts with friends and family. With an extensive menu of hot and cold desserts, there definitely has to be something for everyone. During my recent visit, they have now extended their territory by occupying three shop house units, with all fully air-conditioned.
After a sumptuous dinner at Kok Sen Restaurant at Keong Siak Road, we adjourn to Mei Heong Yuan for some sweet delicacy to round off our night. Well, there is a saying “there is another compartment in the stomach catered for dessert”, right? Upon arrival, despite being a weekday night, it was crowded as usual. Thankfully, we still managed to get seats for 8!
Breaking away from the traditional Ice Kachang, we went for their Snow Ice which is a popular Taiwanese dessert. Having eaten here quite a few times, they never seem to fail. Their snow ice is thinly layered and flavourful, not to say, its portion is also good for 2-3 pax. Price is about $4-5 each. We ordered Chendol Snow Ice and Chocolate Snow Ice.
Other than that, we also ordered Almond with Egg White and two portion of Mango Roll.
The texture for the Almond Egg White was smooth and silky while the Mango Roll has thick slices of mango. So all you mango fans out there, you may consider giving it a try! You may also like to order their Mango Snow Ice too!
Apart from that, Mei Heong Yuen recommends their Peanut, Walnut, Sesame and Almond Paste!
This is definitely a good place for dessert and have another outlet somewhere in town too!
