121) Liberica Coffee
8/8/14 [1 out 6]
Day 1 of my trip to Coffee Paradise, Indonesia and I am here only for one thing. You’ve guessed it, COFFEE!!!
With it’s name that stems from a rare coffee variant of Liberica beans, Liberica Coffee aims to attract dynamic, modern and mature individuals. This can be seen through it’s edgy and hipster concept. If you happened to visit Liberica Coffee, be sure to check out their quirky quotes around the shop.
Over here, coffee are brewed/pressed/percolated with 100% Indonesia beans. However, I am unsure if the types of beans used for my latte. Generally, Liberica (beans) coffee tastes more like coffee robusta than like the more popular arabica. While Ababica beans tend to have a sweeter, softer taste, with tones of sugar, fruit, and berries, Robusta, however, has a stronger, harsher taste, with a grain-like overtone and peanutty aftertaste. At the same time, they contain twice as much caffeine as Arabica beans, and they are generally considered to be of inferior quality compared to Arabica.
What I experienced was a flat tasting coffee. Perhaps, it was more of a weak body where the flavour comes and dissipated quickly. It also has that burnt flavour. Over all, it wasn’t an enjoyable cuppa, just my luck! Since it was a takeaway, therefore I didn’t manage to bask in the atmosphere and didn’t try out their savouries and desserts.
