Ipoh Hor Fun
@ Amoy Street Food Centre
Amoy Street Food Centre is another popular and buzzing food centre in Singapore and it serves mainly the working crowd during day and lunch period. Most of the stalls will be closed by evening time.
So why Ipoh Hor Fun among the many stalls? Two simple things: Accolades and lack of queue (beat the crowd).
On a typical weekday, Amoy Street Food Centre will be packed with office workers during lunch period
from 12pm-2pm. In order to beat the crowd, I arrived at 1150am and managed to be third in line for my Cray Fish Prawn Hor Fun. Shortly into my meal, the rows and rows of queue started to form. Phew, thankful that I came early.
Firstly, the crayfish is fresh, meat was bouncy and sweet. On top of that, the owner serves large prawns that were sweet and fresh too. Note on the gravy, it was boiled with Chinese herbs such as wolfberry which gave the gravy a added dimension rather than the typical starchy type. The hor fun was normal, but overall, I thought that my $6 was worth it.
