We visited the outlet in Tampines for an early dinner and we were glad that it was rather empty at that hour.
I also noticed that there were flower stands at the entrance. Perhaps due to their recent opening, that explains their low crowd for the time being.
I had an Ayam Penyet Set ($10.8) while Fatin had her Bak Mee Ayam Pangsit ($9.5). Tahu Telor ($8.5) was meant for sharing, but I had to finish it up all by myself in the end.
Here’s the crispy skin Ayam Penyet. Good portion and tasted fairly well.
Tahu Telor literally means Beancurd Egg, where chunks of Tahu are being molded into a thick egg batter and undergo deep-frying. At the same time, the crust of egg white was crispy and fried till golden brown.
Complementing it was a generous portion of kacang (grated peanuts) mixed in sweet and spicy sauce. I believe this sauce composed of Kecap Manis (sweet sauce) and chilli bits for that extra kick of spice! Super appetizing!
Fatin had her Bak Mee Ayam Pangsit. Pangsit basically means “wanton” in malay.
Essentially, it was minced chicken noodles with wanton.
Food tasted pleasing and ambiance was rather comfortable. Pricing was affordable and Indobox is also Halal certified as well.
