Heavenly Wang At The Red House (Katong)
Have you ever met someone who looked familiar and you thought you must have met him/her somewhere. Perhaps, a stranger who you got together so well the first time you strike a conversation with? That’s what it’s like to me when Heavenly Wang’s operated at the iconic Red House along East Coast Road in Katong.
The Red House was formerly occupied by Katong Bakery & Confectionary in the early 1920s and seized operations in the early 2000s. While Wang Cafés history can be traced back to the 1950s and was called Wang Jiao “旺角”, which literally means “Prosperous Corner”. How apt is that when Wang Cafe decided to take over and revive the lustrous glory of The Red House.
Heavenly Wang is a place for local traditional toast and pastry, aromatic coffee (kopi) and tea, as well as local classics such as Mee Siam and Mee Rebus.
If soft cakes and pastries aren’t enough, you can give the assorted biscuits a try! Nicely packed in convenient plastic containers, it’s as easy as grab and go (and pay)!
You can check out their full menu here.
The facade and much of the interior design are closely replicated like the good old days and certainly nostalgic for those who frequented here in the past. Apart from being in an iconic building with rich history, there are many outlets island wide for all you fans of Heavenly Wang.
