116) Delicius Cafe
After 9 months of intense renovation, the 120 years old market turned food centre has finally reopened! From my source, Lau Pat Sat has now increased it’s seats to 2500 from the previous of 2000. Despite having a reduced in vendors, there are some new additions as well, such as Delicius Pasticceria and Cafe. The former is the cake section while the latter sells beverages.
It was a fluke to stumble upon this stall/cafe simply because I wasn’t expecting a cafe to be located here in a hawker centre. Moreover, it is at the heart of the CBD area.
I was actually rushing to meet another friend near by after a prior lunch with a couple of friends. However, I couldn’t let this opportunity go by since this was a rare visit here. But what affirmed my decision to drop by was the whiff of coffee! Amazing right?! Despite being in an open area and having stiff ‘competition’ from many stalls, the coffee fragrance was still detectable. With less than 5minutes on hand, I decided to get a latte ($5) which had double shots of espresso in it.
Boy oh boy, it was shiokadoo! It was strong due to the double shots, nice chocolaty flavour and releases nice coffee fragrance. Totally worth it!
