Da Jie Famous Wanton Mee (大姐云吞面): Local Delights At 209 Jalan Besar
Da Jie Famous Wanton Mee is indeed FAMOUS! Even my non-Chinese friend knows about this stall and highly recommended it to me! It was my second visit to this coffee shop yet was my first try at it. A simple reason: SOLD OUT before 2pm! Should I further elaborate, or am I exaggerating?
Learning from our first experience, we came earlier this time round to avoid disappointment. As the saying goes, “early bird catches the worm” and we did! Despite being earlier, there was already a queue of more than 5 in front of us!
Our orders arrived after 15 minutes of eternity.
It was worth the wait indeed. I like the al dente texture of the egg noodle coupled with their homemade sauce. Probably one of the best noodles around. While the char siew was decent, but I wasn’t impressed. It was made from pork collar and was a too lean for my liking. Check out char siew from No Name Wanton and Fatty Cheong.
Wanton served here were fairly decent as they were plumpy and delicious. Apart from their famous wanton noodles, Da Jie’s braised chicken feet noodle seems to be their signature dish instead! Never really understood nor fancy chicken feet, however, this an option for you guys!
