94) Carvers and Co.
Another new addition to Eastie family! Check out Katong – East Coast Road – Siglap for cafes in this district!
Out of curiousity, I went to find out what Carvers meant and this was what I found:
“A carvery is a restaurant where cooked meat is freshly sliced to order for customers, sometimes offering unlimited servings for a fixed price.”
Unlike any other hipster cafes out there, instead of the regular Egg Benny and etc, Carvers and Co. decided to have their menu mainly on roast and grill. They envision this cafe as a spot for family and friends to hangout over hearty meals of roasts and comfort food. What’s unique on their menu is their featured roast which changes every week and is served in family size, for sharing and individual. Having said that, this roast is also served in limited portion, therefore making a call before your appearance is advised by the Carvers.
What’s on my menu today was simply a cup of latte. They had 2 blends to choose from, namely Common Man Coffee Roaster and The Maling Room from Melbourne. Of course, I went for the “special guest” from Melbourne. It had strong flavours, somewhat butterscotch-caramel and was mildly acidic. Frankly, I grew fond of the latter only after my 3rd sip. This was exactly what I experienced at La Ristretto recently at Novena Medical Centre.
Lastly, the barista who was a young chap showed passion and enthusiasm. He definitely took his part time job seriously and adopted a positive approach to it. Being unassuming as he looks, but his passion for coffee was reflected through his sharing during our conversation. I definitely did learn much from him.
I will definitely come back for their roast and grill the next round!
