Captain K Seafood Tower: Korean Seafood Steamboat At Prinsep Street
In Singapore, many are going gaga over K-pop, salivating over Korean BBQ, Korean Bingsu and now Korean Seafood Steamboat! Pioneering this culinary craze is Captain K where “Captain” signifies the captain of the steam-boat and “K” as Korean. This eatery offers Seafood Towers suitable for 2 to 8 pax with prices ranging from $68.90 to $298.90.
Coming here with 9 pax, thus 9 tiers was the best option. While each options do serve crustacean, however, I noticed that the type of crustacean served were different. Our 9 tier had Alaskan Crab while the table which had 3 tiers had mud crab.
You have to be patient when you dine at Captain K because long waiting time is part of the package. Not only do you have to wait for the food to arrive, getting to eat the delicacy from each tier also requires patience. So you decide whether should you gobble your food or savour the seafood.
Here are the seafood from each tier:
There is a catch to this. The longer we take to finish each tier, the longer the lower layers get steamed, thus compromising on the quality.
My personal favorite was the squid with glutinous rice which had an intense dried shrimp flavour.
Finally arrived at the bottom of the tower, which was time for steamboat! Frankly, 9 tiers may seem a lot, but it really isn’t. However, going frenzy on the steamboat selection wasn’t the best idea either, unless with a limitless budget.
Overall, we each forked out $45 (9 pax). Will I revisit, probably not if I’m on a hunger strike. Nevertheless, it was a thrilling experience as I waited to unveil what each tier has to offer!
