127) A For Arbite
Just a couple of streets away from Haji Lane and Arab Street, A For Arbite is a relatively new cafe that is located at Aliwal Street which is next to Aliwal Performing Art Centre. In case you are wondering, “arbite” is actually German for “work”. Their philosophy is in fact – Work Hard, Live Well.
A For Arbite is very much a minimalist cafe/eatery and spacious at the same time. It is able to whole up to 60-70 pax at any one time! Perfect for large gathering and function. It is also a great place for brunch and after work.
What’s unique about them is their food and beer pairing. With five Belgian craft beers on tap – Estaminet ($10), Palm ($12), Steenbrugge Double Brown ($14), Steenbrugge Tripel ($14) and Lindemans Fruit ($10), you will be able to appreciate and experience the wonders of these beers with their sampling guide.
Having said that, I am a coffee person than anything else. So I ordered a latte ($5) and at the same time tried out their Sticky Date Pudding. Not too impressed with their coffee, but am delighted with their dessert. Till date, Jerry’s BBQ still has the best Sticky Date Pudding!
I will definitely come back for their mains and the beer pairing in the future since that’s the highlight for A For Arbite.
